Press Release Body = If you are ready for summer-and blue skies, fresh linens, and sunshine-you are going to love the first ever Blue and White Auction presented by LLD Specialty Sales. Four major dealers have sifted through their extensive inventories and hand picked more than 200 lots of antique tiles and pottery, collectible door hardware, vintage plumbing, Early American Pattern Glass, books, fabrics, catalogs, china, jewelry, furniture, and architectural items.
And the beautiful thing is that every lot will feature something that is either Blue or White.
The Blue and White Auction will open for bidding on Saturday, May 20th, 2006, and will close one week later on May 27, allowing one week of live bidding. Many pieces are available for preview at the online photo galleries of www.LLDSpecialtySales.com and www.AntiqueTiles.com.
Jill and Web Wilson are nationally known experts on vintage plumbing, antique door hardware and architectural materials. Among the items they have chosen for this auction are blue decorated sink bowls, blue glass and decorated porcelain doorknobs, a white marble pharmacy scale, some rare Addison glass tiles, and a small cast iron safe with a Gothic arch door. They will also offer a selection of fine fabrics and weaving artifacts from their recent Scalamandre Archive Auction event.
Jill and Web recently contributed two chapters to Brian Coleman's latest book Details, published by Gibbs-Smith. Jill runs an antique plumbing business called LooLoo Design and Web's antique hardware auctions that have realized world record doorknob prices. Both the Wilson\'s focus on American antiques and American history and have been asked to share their interest and knowledge of our nation's building heritage with many museums and restoration projects. Their mission is to build awareness of all the industrial and decorative arts so that everyone can learn to enjoy and preserve America's antiques heritage.
Antique tiles and pottery, offered by Karen Michelle Antique Tiles, of www.AntiqueTiles.com, include a vintage Moravian Pottery sconce, a Columbian Exposition advertising calendar paperweight, an American Encaustic advertising double inkwell, and a matched pair of antique portrait stove tiles.
Antique and collectible tiles offer a unique opportunity to customize your decorating needs to your specific taste. Tiles were first introduced into homes to present a more hygienic surface, and they have evolved into an art form of their own. The blue and white examples in the auction will range in age from 1880 - 1960, and were produced in the US, England, Spain and Italy.
American historical items in glass and pottery, offered by Grace Guido, include a rare blue Lincoln - Garfield assassination mug, a Frosted Ribbon Dolphin standard compote, a flint Pressed Ring Punty lamp by Sandwich, and a selection of childrens' Victorian toy glass mugs in blue.
Glass made between 1850 - 1910 captured the spirit of the Industrial Revolution in America. Mold makers, glass blowers and factory workers fashioned useful and decorative items for our homes. Examples of their craft are apparent in the names given to patterns, such as "Lamb", "Wee Branches", and "Thousand Eye", from which the name of the collecting category known as "Early American Pattern Glass" is derived.
Collectors, decorators, restorers and antiques lovers will find a treasure for themselves or their customers in this first time auction with an exclusive Blue and White theme. Up for grabs will be antique tiles, jewelry, pottery from Rookwood, Zanesville Stoneware, North Carolina, UND, and romantic and historical Staffordshire, books and artwork, Ante Bellum doorknobs and cabinet hardware, collectible pottery and china, painted furniture, and some interesting architectural elements.
Each dealer guarantees every lot to be as described and the opening bid is the winning bid if there is no advancement. All bidders remain anonymous and each bidder can access their own bidding records and watch lists.
